Recovery is still underway
Rebuilding at Grand Canyon is about more than restoring roads and buildings. It includes dependable water, safe trails, visitor services, protection of natural and historic resources, and the livelihoods of the people who make the park function.
North Rim rebuilding and planning
Following the 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire, the National Park Service is developing a longer-term North Rim Recovery Plan. A public involvement period is scheduled October 6 through November 6, 2026, inviting perspectives on visitor facilities, lodging, infrastructure, employee needs, and the future character of the North Rim.

Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch
The August 2026 flooding brought additional repair work. The park has been assessing damage, restoring water infrastructure, and considering the safety of trails and facilities in the inner canyon. Closures and reopening dates can change, so this site links to official NPS information rather than promising dates.

People are part of the recovery
Every closure or interruption can affect employees, guides, concessioners, small businesses, and families. The ongoing relief campaign was created to respond to the people behind the headlines, and the need for community support has not ended.
Support the Grand Canyon community: Contribute to the ongoing relief fundraiser. The campaign has already raised and sent $9,700 to United Way of Northern Arizona for workers affected by the Dragon Bravo Fire. Your continued generosity helps us stand with Grand Canyon workers and families as recovery continues.
